Understanding the safety equipment in today's vehicles must be a critical part of all emergency training. Without the proper knowledge of air bags, rollover protection systems (ROPS) and seatbelt pretensioners, all rescuers - firefighters, police officers and EMS personnel -may place themselves in danger when responding to MVA's.
This training program addresses the skills needed to successfully operate in and around vehicles with Occupant Protection Systems such as supplemental restraint systems. Our program covers everything essential to rescuer safety including the types of airbags and pretensioner systems utilized today, their locations within the car, and operating principles. Rollover Protection Systems (ROPS) are also addressed.
The Occupant Protection Systems (supplemental restraint systems) training program includes instructor’s notes to augment the information provided in the lesson plan and student handouts.
